Artistic Director and Conductor

ORCHARD PARK CHORALE  |  2017–Present

  • Evidence of Recruitment: over 40% membership growth within first year.

  • Designed and implemented new marketing and publicity strategies to attain funding.

  • Developed the OPC Young Artist Program to cultivate relationships with area schools.

  • Conceived and developed the artistic direction, vision, and mission of the OPC.

  • Managed communication, planning, and logistics for community performances.

  • Conducted all rehearsals and performances of notable major works with orchestra including the Finzi: In Terra Pax, Holst: Christmas Day, Constant Lambert: The Rio Grande, and Ralph Vaughan Williams: Toward the Unknown Region

 

Director of Choral Music

NICHOLS SCHOOL  |  2016–Present

  • Rehearsed and conducted Concert Choir, Honors Vocal Ensemble, and Orpheus Singers.

  • Advised a small group of students in curriculum, conflict, and college process.

  • Hired and Supervised the choral department accompanist.

  • Taught voice lessons to over 60 students, twice per quarter. 

  • Received high ratings at first-ever NYSSMA Adjudications.

  • Managed large budget, guest artists, workshops, music technology.

  • Supervised and developed the Freshman Survey of Music curriculum.

  • Established music electives including "Musical Archetypes" and “Songwriting” using iPads, iMacs, Garageband, keyboards/synths, Mainstage 3, and Logic.

  • Procured funds for a Steinway grand piano restoration.

  • Developed a system of elected student leadership (EXEC) that has enabled students to help manage trips, discipline, punctuality, social events, music distribution, concert setup, attire, etc.

 

        Curriculum Development and Initiatives:

  • Directed the first-ever Community Spotlight Concert at the Buffalo Philharmonic’s Kleinhans Music Hall with the Nichols Concert Choir.

  • Curated guest residencies for conductors Dr. Lee Wright and Dr. Adam Luebke (Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus) to work with the Concert Choir.

  • Commissioned Stephen Feigenbaum of Yale University to compose works for the Nichols Concert Choir to be premiered at Nichols. 

  • Completely redesigned the curriculum for the required class “Freshman Survey of Music” to engage students in music.  Students are now able to distinguish between musical periods and can identify composers like Bach, Beethoven, Haydn, and Mozart by hearing their music.

  • Developed the incredibly popular music elective “Songwriting I & II” where students would foster their own personal musical style using iPads, iMacs, Garageband, keyboards/synths, Mainstage 3, and Logic.  This required the creation of a music technology lab.

  • Initiated systems of elected student leadership (EXEC) in each choir, enabling students to feel represented and responsible for their success. Students now play a significant role in managing trips, the choral budget, personnel issues, discipline, punctuality, social events, music distribution, auxiliary setup, concert attire, and furthering the choral mission of excellence.

  • Established performance initiatives with the admissions department and the Head of School to show donors a high-level performing ensemble, which has led to a rise in giving and increased music department support.

  • Spearheaded the purchase of a full-stage acoustical shell, fulfilling a decade-long request from the music department. 

  • Procured funds to completely restore a Steinway Grand Piano with an estimated value of $40,000. 

  • Conceived and directed the Nichols School Choral Festival where area schools, colleges, and community choirs were invited to campus for a collaborative night of singing.  This endeavor gave students the opportunity to be engaged with their community and it also helped with admissions and recruitment. 

Bass Section Leader

BUFFALO PHILHARMONIC CHORUS  |  2016–17

  • Rehearsed sectionals and conducted small and large chamber ensembles.

  • Provided singers with weekly rehearsal notes, memorization techniques, and diction/IPA.

  • Resolves punctuality and attendance. 

 

Music Director

KENMORE BAPTIST CHURCH  |  2016-18

  • Responsible for weekly rehearsals of the adult choir, worship team, and worship band.

  • Developed a well-rounded music program in coordination with the music committee/Pastor.

  • Led congregational singing by casting a vision of biblical worship as a lifestyle and fostering a

    culture of community.

Ensemble Manager/Section Leader, EASTMAN–ROCHESTER CHORUS                                                                                             

  • Communicated regularly with music director and graduate assistants in planning, preparation, and rehearsal strategy.

  • Managed 180-member choral personnel through organized spreadsheet database, daily email communication, seating assignments, and rehearsal announcements.

  • Coordinated rehearsal space and performance venue for choral personnel.

  • Conducted 65-member ensemble of freshman and sophomore level music majors for two semesters of bi-weekly rehearsals.

  • Planned, promoted, and facilitated all logistical elements for two major concerts.

  • Recruited, rehearsed, and coached professional orchestra players and vocal soloists to execute the performances in baroque style and performance practice.

  • Conducted and rehearsed this 70-member ensemble of women from both the University of Rochester and the Eastman School of Music.
